Build a daily job checklist that works offline
Use this plan for one person completing a recurring job, such as checking rooms after cleaning. It is a build plan for a local-first app, not a ready-made app or a shared team system.
1. Define a complete job record
Give each job a stable ID, a readable name, a date, and a list of checks. Decide whether each check needs only a yes/no answer or also a note. Keep “not checked” separate from “not applicable” if that distinction matters.
Define when a job can be marked complete. Do not require a fake answer just to move past an irrelevant item. Start with fictional jobs during development.
2. Save each change clearly
Keep the working records on the device, with a visible saved or failed state. A builder can use IndexedDB for structured records. Do not show success before the write completes.
Allow corrections and reopening. Keep completed records separate from a blank template so starting tomorrow’s job cannot overwrite yesterday’s work. No login or sync is needed for this single-device first version.
3. Make the whole task available offline
Cache the app’s screens, code, icons, and other required files. Show when preparation has completed. Test creating and editing a job after disconnecting, then close and reopen the app.
Avoid dependencies that quietly require a network request, such as fetching the checklist template on every opening. Store the required template with the app or its local records.
4. Add export and a trial
Provide a complete export for backup and a readable report if staff need to share a result. Document whether import replaces or merges records. Test duplicate imports and a damaged file without touching real work.
Run one agreed trial. Check a missed tap, an accidental completion, an interrupted session, and a storage failure. Ask the cleaner whether the phone screen is usable during the actual job. Expand only after those basics work.
Your choice stays on this device. It is not sent to the site owner.
